To Update to the latest version

  • Download ChordAssist_Update.zip from Here.
  • Unzip to an empty folder.
  • Copy the files to the C:\Program Files\ ChordAssist folder.

  • Later versions of the Yamaha PSR series instruments include chord change and other sequencer specific midi events in midi files created on the instrument. These are used in conjunction with the Vocal Harmony and in single step editing operations. Unfortunately, many popular programs (XG Works and later versions of Cakewalk Sonar are exceptions), remove these events while loading the midi, thus eliminating any capabilities that these events provide.
  • ChordAssis acts as an interface the program, makes a copy of the sequencer specific information before passing the midi to the program, and then restores the information after the program program has been closed.
  • It also gives the user the option of changing the any LSB Registered Parameter Control Change data value from 1 to 0. This prevents the Main/Left/Layer in midis made on a PSR2000 from playing ½ step lower when played from a sequencer using the instrument as a sound source.
  • Chords events are displayed in a window in the program and in a sequencer as text events (these show up as Markers) to alert the user to their position and to permit relocation or deletion, if desired. It is not possible to edit chord events in Chord Assistant. See the program Producer.
