Unlike it's bigger brothers, the PSR340 keyboard does not adopt the standard midifile format when saving user recorded songs. UF340MC is a freeware program for Windows® 95/98/ME/2000 to convert Yamaha PSR-340 user Song files to standard MIDI files (SMF1). This pc software utility extracts all recorded tracks, i.e. music parts, from the PSR340 User Song file selected and converts these into a single MIDI file.
Please note that this utility will not extract accompaniment tracks. As far as the author is aware, the PSR-340 does not actually record the notes of the accompaniment on separate tracks but only the chord changes and pattern changes. The PSR340 then produces the accompaniment "on the fly" from this data when the song is replayed. Such data cannot be converted for storing into the MIDI file format and is therefore ignored.
To create a MIDI file with the accompaniment tracks recorded, you will need to connect your PSR using MIDI to the computer. Using a software sequencer on the computer, you record your songs, including the auto accompaniment by recording the midi data from the PSR340. You should also ensure that the sequencer is synchronised with the PSR340 via midi clock. Note that the recorded song in this case cannot be loaded back into the PSR340 for editing.
If you intend to make midi file that will be played back on PC from the PSR340, you should select GM voices rather than PSR Panel voices. Of course, you can select any Panel voice, but the computer's sound card will accept it as a GM voice. PSR Panel voices reside in MIDI Banks from 112 to 119, and generally many sound cards have no voices within these banks. In this case, each of those banks will be adopted as bank 0, possibly resulting in some unusual voice choices.
